I am contemplating this beautiful quote. Think about what each word and sentence with me, as you read slowly.(Bold words my emphasis)
"We come to God by special invitation, and He waits to welcome us to His audience chamber. . . . We may be admitted into closest intimacy and communion with God.
Pray with humble hearts. Seek the Lord often in prayer. In the secret place, alone, the eye sees Jesus and the ear is opened to Jesus. You come forth from the secret place of prayer to abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Temptations come, but you press closer and still closer to the side of Jesus and place your hand in His hand. Then you gain a rich experience, resting in His love and rejoicing in His mercy. The worries and perplexities and cares are gone, and you rejoice in Jesus Christ. The soul is quick to hear the Father's voice, and you will commune with God. All criticism is banished, all judging of others has been expelled from the soul. . . .
In Jesus Christ there is fragrance of character. There is the developing of nobleness of character, of refinement and purity, for by beholding you reflect the image of Christ. Sons of God, daughters of God, we must be like Him, and in this close relationship to God we receive power and heavenly endowment that we may work the works of God. . . ." In Heavenly Places, p. 86.
Jesus invites us to come. Are you experiencing this precious experience available to all who seek the Lord often in prayer. I think God has more for us to experience then we have even imagined. I was thinking this morning about pressing still closer and closer to the side of Jesus, and placing my hand in His. Then I looked at his hand. It isn't just a hand, like my husband's or child's. It is the most precious hand, and in the center of that hand is a scar. It is almost to sacred to touch, and yet he offers that hand to be held by me, by you. Holding that hand is our strength. He is our strength. Think about the blood that flowed out of that scar.
A.G. Daniells says in Christ our Righteousness, p. 15, "It is through faith in the blood of Christ that all the sins of the believer are canceled and the righteousness of God is put in their place to the believer's account. O, what a marvelous transaction! What a manifestation of divine love and grace."
So we start our morning in the secret place, alone with God. Our eyes and ears open to Jesus, and then we go through the day pressing close, and as the temptations come and the stresses pile up we press still closer by his side, our hand in his, our sins canceled, and the righteousness of God upon us. There is no need to fear. He gives us rest, even rest from our sins.
