George Washington's Birthday - More on the Cat/Dog Saga

My daughter wrote more on the the Cat and Dog Saga over at her blog, Spiritual Graces . You'll have to see what we did for George Washington's Birthday.

The First Crocus of Spring

My son was out today photographing the first crocus of spring.  I thought many of his photos turned out just lovely.  He was really working hard for some good macro photography.  There are more at his blog today, just in case you don't have any blooming yet at your house.

Lattice Pansy Quilt

The cold foggy weather has been good for something.  I pulled out a quilt that I had pieced when my children were little.  I had started quilting it quite a few years ago after taking a machine quilting class, but had given up for lack of time (and skill).  Some of my beginning stitches weren't quite what I was hoping for, so I picked them out, and started over.  I've been working slowly on the machine quilting, as I found time, and I was able to finish on Sunday, and put the binding on on Monday and Tuesday.  Now it is making my living room look pretty, as we wait for spring, and live pansies out in the garden.  I don't think my machine quilting is ready for a competition yet, but it makes my heart happy.  It is my first large, complete, machine quilting project.  The quilt is like a very large throw, or couch quilt.  It is as wide as the cushions on my couch.  I think is around 60 something inches by 80 something inches, or so. I have to tell you, winter is leaving.  Spring is coming.  We heard the Meadowlark sing.  He was sitting up in the top of our leafless Maple Tree sining his heart out.  We could even see his yellow color and black bib. Would you like to hear one sing too?  I found a nice video here .  Only 14 seconds of your time.

Increasing Faith

"God delights to increase the faith of His children. We ought, instead of wanting no trials before victory, no exercise for patience, to be willing to take them from God’s hand as a means. I say, and say it deliberately: Trials, obstacles, difficulties and sometimes defeats are the very food of faith." ~ George Muller I think God is working on increasing my faith.  I am going to take the time right now to say thank you to God for the food of faith He is pouring into my life.
