Nimitz Beach Sunset

Sabbath evening, our last Sabbath on Guam, just before sunset, we went to Nimitz Beach to watch the sun set.   Rob had come home feeling sick the day before.  A high fever caused him to miss church but by evening he was feeling fine again.  We were glad to be together out in the lovely evening  light, so we set up a family photo, to help us remember out time on Guam.  Araya has had concerning health struggles the whole time we have been here, but God is keeping her alive, and we know He is with us, and has a plan, a hope for her of something very good.     Araya took along the mop bucket to be her tri-pod, and experimented with time lapse photography.  (Right now she is composing music to go with it.  Watch her blog for an update.) William set up the underwater camera on his little gorilla pod, tri-pod, right out there, just above the surface of the water, and tried to get some interesting video angles.  Unfortuna...

Remembering What Happened Here, at Sunset

We found a beach on the north end of Agat that we hadn't been to before.  It is part of the National Historic Park on Guam, so pretty clean and quiet.  There is an old Japanese bunker there, with lots of damage to the cement, so you know it was attacked pretty hard. No one lives here any more except the crabs. But lots of men will likely recognise the uniquely shaped island just off shore.  Likely they sheltered some young American men at one time from Japanese bullets.  The sun set then, 70 years ago, just as it sets now.  Everything is quiet and safe, thanks to their sacrifice. The people of Guam were so thankful to be set free from the suffering they had been experiencing.  Life didn't get better quickly, because their homes were destroyed, and most of the foliage on the island ruined.  But they had freedom once again.

A Blessed Sabbath Rest

Yesterday afternoon after going shopping for snorkel gear, with Rob who has Friday afternoon's off, we drove back home.  The sun was starting to set just as we were getting there, so we drove to a good view point, by the road, just before the Marina.  There was a rain squall just to the left of the sun. Just as the sun was sinking into the dark waters far edge . . . . . . a fishing boat passed between the sun and us. Did the people on the deck know they were being watched? How often do we think we are going  somewhere important  and not know the impact we are making  on someone else?  I pray  that the  Son of Righteousness is  always  shining  through my windows,  and makes an eternal difference in the lives of those watching.   May you have a blessed Sabbath rest.

Peace after the Storm

A big wind storm blew into our area this evening. While we were eating supper leaves were being torn off the trees, and dirt slung into the air off of our big dirt pile in the back yard. There was so much dirt blowing you couldn't see the pile anymore. The sky was filled with debris. Mama Kitty came in the house upset and all muddy. I brought the flowers in off of the porch to save them from a beating. After the wind calmed, the rain came hard; and then a brilliant, double rainbow arching across the whole sky. Light burst through the dark clouds, making way for a the deep color of sunset. Peace settled in for the night, like happy children tucked into bed. " The mother must realize that God is her helper, that love is her success, her power. If she is a wise Christian, she will not attempt to force the child into submission. She will pray; and as she prays, she will be conscious of a renewal of spiritual life within herself. And she will see that at the same time the ...
