Link about Bible Memorization

I just read an inspiring post about Bible memorization, "Maybe the Most Important Thing you do for Your Faith, " by Ann at Holy Experience .  I'd really suggest that you go there , if you'd like to be inspired to memorize more.  Plus she gave some very practical tips, and tools (such as websites to help you print note cards) to help with memorization that I know will help me.  Maybe they will help you too.

The Old Brain Excuse, Bible Memorization Update

Rainbow in the rosy sunset light last week.  In the middle of May, I wrote about a Bible Memorization seminar I attended.  I wrote about my old brain having a hard time memorizing anything, but that I felt motivated to try again, using www.scripturetyper.com . Let me tell you, it was hard, slow work at first, but the on-line software worked for even one as-slow-of-brain, as I.  Required perseverance paid off, and I, even with my tired, old brain, one month later, am memorizing much faster now.  I looked at my stats and saw that I've got 20 verses currently memorized!  I two months ago, I would not have said that was possible. I'm really excited to tell you that I am remembering scripture, too.  When I laid down to sleep last night, some disturbing thoughts came to mind, but they went away when I started going over Revelation 22:1-5, word for word, about the river comimg from the throne of God and the Lamb, and the Tree of Life, and that the curse will end, and there w

Resting

Bantum chicks, just a few days old. Resting. We have chicks at our house now; dream come true for my animal loving son.  These little Bantum chicks were my favorite, and they really seemed to like me too.  As often as possible, I'd get them from the mudroom shower stall that we had converted into a chick nursery, snuggle them up close to my warm, and the tiny balls of fluff would fall asleep in my hands safe and secure.  I'm not really their mama, but I loved to be a mama to them, even if for a few moments.  I enjoyed watching them trust me, fear of being caught abating, when they realized that I was warm and gentle. And have you ever thought about how much God enjoys it when we trust him, and enjoy his gentle care and love for us?  Can you settle down in the palm of his hand, rest your head on the one nearest, and fall asleep, trusting him to take care of all the details that need attended to? One of our chicks couldn't rest in my hand.  The whole time she would pe

God's Grace in the Kitchen

To find out more about what happened in my kitchen on Sunday, pop over to my daughter's blog and read the story about the "Faulty Connection" . Our kitchen stove caught fire, but our house didn't.  God got my husband home in time to take care of it.  If Grandma had been the only one home, things would have turned out differently.  We are thankful for God's grace and protective care.    There is only a tiny lingering odor left in the kitchen and it's perfect weather for cooking and eating on the deck.  It really is a miracle.

Even the Ones I have not Committed Yet . . .

This morning, my time alone with God was so rich.  I was chasing some thoughts that have recently come to mind, about Jesus and the heavenly sanctuary and prayer.  So many beautiful thoughts that come straight out of the book of Hebrews, more then I can put into a blog post right now.  But I'm eager to leave you with the most amazing thought that came to me this morning.  Maybe it will take you deep in gratitude and worship of our Savior, as it did me. Jesus took my (your) sins upon himself,  even the ones that I (you) have not committed yet, . . . and then he died,  . . . in my (your) (our) place.

Gaze at Jesus

Gaze at Jesus; Glance at your problems.

Please Pray for Boys with Leukemia

Enduring Alone.  Aged Juniper tree, Dead Horse State Park, Moab, Utah. March 2011. I found out today that my friend Marci in Texas has a 16 year old son who was just diagnosed with Leukemia.  This news is on the heels of the news that my friend Ann in a different part of Texas has a four year old son who was diagnosed just a few weeks ago with Leukemia.  Would you please pray earnestly, in the name of Jesus, for both of these precious boys, and their families? Dear Ann and Marci, May God give you His strength, peace that goes beyond understanding, enduring love.  May God touch your boys and heal them.  May God take care of your other children, your husband and your marriage.  May God supply all your needs according to His riches in glory. In the name of Jesus, who loves each of us. Amen.

30 Promises for the Month of June

Dead Horse Point State Park, Moab Utah, March 2011 Do you need some encouragement today?  I found a website that has a promise of God (paraphrased) for every day of the year.  And beautiful videos of nature and Bible promises for every month of the year.  I just finished watching the 6 minute video for June and am encouraged.  You might be also, if you take the time to watch and meditate on God's thoughts and promises for believers.  While you are there, you might want to take time to watch the video of The Father's Love Letter to You .
