Praying

Meet Magnificent, our grand Buff Brahman Rooster "Daily annoyances beset the path of young and old.  Those who would live patient, loving, cheerful lives  must pray.  Only by receiving constant help from God can we gain the victory over self." Wildflower Meadow in a Winter Scarf

Dear Friend who lives far away, I did find some colorful yarn in town on Friday, but at a price, I had to wait in a very long line for over an hour with dozens of other customers looking for a good deal.  I just know you would like the juicy, bright colors, rather like a wildflower meadow, in winter, I think.  I liked the colors and texture of the yarn so well I set right to work, or rather to relaxing with a crochet hook.  The chunky thread moved so quickly through the large hook that I'm happy to say this scarf is already finished.  And I feel accomplished.  Did you make any progress on your scarf? *Photo by Heavenly Light Photography

Something New

Something new and exciting is happening at our house.  I'll give you a hint!  There are two teachers and only one student, a camera woman, plus lots of noise.  We think it won't be long until there is four part  harmony.  We are really excited to think that all four member of the family will be able to play an musical instrument.

Fall Quilt - Disappearing Nine-Patch

This school year there has been very little time for the things I enjoy.  Our homeschooling days have been full to overflowing.  But it is Thanksgiving break, couldn't I do something enjoyable? How about some time to work on a fall colored quilt I started a few years ago?  You make a simple Nine-patch block.  And they you get out your rotary cutter and cut it in half in both directions.  I pinned each new set of four blocks into piles. Then I rearranged them into a new design and sewed them back together into a new block. The result looks amazingly complicated, but isn't.  With a little time, and a border, I'll have a new queen-sized quilt ready to put together.  And it was all made of random pieces of yardage from my fabric cupboard.

Missing Blog is Found

Well, my amazing husband did some online research and figured out what to do, and within a day of sending some information to google, my son has his blog back.  Today he posted some photos of the backyard campfire at the home of some friends on Saturday night.  The kids tested their skills and started the fire without matches or lighter.  And then they made some good old-fashioned campfire food, wrapped up in foil and cooked to perfection in the roaring fire.  What fun!  Be sure to leave a comment to welcome Heavenly Light Photograph y back to the web.

The Case of the Missing Blog

If you are looking for my son's blog, please be patient.  Google and/or Blogger abruptly, without warning, deleted it today, and we are trying to figure out why and trying get it back. He's really sad.  He's put a lot of hard work into his blog, and appreciates all of his readers.  He hopes that if he gets his blog back, you will all come back too.

Blue Heron in the Creek

The Great Blue Heron waits patiently in the creek.  Wait a minute!  I think there's something in here. Yep!  Got it.

Frosty Morning Flowers

Black -eyed Susan The temperature dipped low in the 20's one day this week.   The killing frost took the rest of the garden, but a couple hardy flowers still remained when the morning light hit them. Bachelor's Buttons What beautiful frosty morning sparkles backed in gold and blue!  Beauty to the end. ( Did the Bachelor give his last button to Susan? )

Colorful Blessings

I think it is time to remember the blessings in my life. *Breathing - My dad and mom have been doing that for 1/3 more years then I have.  My kids are still doing that, and so is my husband.  And I remember that there is a time that breathing may stop.  Each breath is a gift. *Sharing - Birthdays.  It is birthday season for my family and some others we know.  I'm thankful for each year of life.  I'm thankful for the brand new baby boy born to my friends.  He took his first breath just not many days ago.  Wow!  Like Adam.  A brand new life breathing air created by God. *Wind - It blew through our area and shook the house last night.  It broke some things, but it also took many of the leaves off of our trees and blew them to the next county, or at least off our property.  That means I won't have to rake them anywhere. *Friends - One came by yesterday and we sipped cups of tea. Another came by today and we went for a walk.  One called me on the phone, and several sent
